Alberto Sousa was born in Madeira and graduated in Voice Teaching from the University of Aveiro, studying with António Salgado. He was then accepted onto the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Opera Course,  where he studied with Laura Sarti.

As an alumnus of the Solti Te Kanawa Accademia di Bel Canto (2012) he recorded a CD of Italian songs produced by Richard Bonynge, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Sir Georg Solti’s birth.

2014 was an excitingly international year for Alberto, with a tour of Bel Canto recitals in Japan, La Bohème (Puccini) at the Barga Belcanto Festival (Italy) and a European tour of Orlando Paladino (Haydn) with Purpur Opera. Alberto then sang the first modern performance of Jan Wansky’s Litaniae in Poland and made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, performing Mozart’s Requiem.

Back in London, where he currently lives, Alberto has recently performed La Cenerentola (Rossini) with the Clapham Opera Festival,  Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss) with Danube Opera at St. John’s Smith Square and recently toured the UK with Swansea City Opera, singing the title role in Faust (Gounod).
